Written Warranty
Every Vault job carries a written warranty on the work order. There are no verbal promises to substitute. If something we did fails inside the coverage window, we come back at no charge.
24-Month Workmanship Warranty
Coverage window: 24 months from job close-out.
What’s covered: drying, structural repairs, drywall, flooring, cabinetry and paint performed by Vault crews.
What’s not covered: work performed by other contractors; damage from a new or unrelated moisture event; cosmetic wear and tear.
Remedy: we return and redo the failed workmanship at no charge.
90-Day Mold Warranty
Coverage window: 90 days from post-remediation clearance.
What’s covered: recurrence of mold from the same moisture source we remediated.
What’s not covered: mold from a new or unrelated moisture source; mold in areas we didn’t remediate.
Remedy: we reinspect and re-remediate the affected area at no charge.
Transferability
Both warranties are transferable once to a new homeowner within the coverage window, with a signed transfer form from Vault. The remaining coverage period carries over; it does not reset.
How to File a Warranty Claim
- Call (385) 250-2825 during office hours (Mon–Sat 8 AM–5 PM) or submit a request through /contact-us/.
- We schedule an on-site reinspection within 7 business days.
- If the issue falls within coverage, we schedule the work and complete it at no charge.
How Vault’s warranty compares to the restoration industry
Most Utah County restoration companies state they “stand behind their work” without putting a time, scope, or remedy on paper. The IICRC standards (S500 for water, S520 for mold) govern method but do not require a written warranty — that’s a company choice.
Vault commits to a written window with a defined remedy, and the warranty rides on the work order from the day the job closes.
Side-by-side
| Element | Industry norm | Vault |
|---|---|---|
| Written document | Varies; often verbal only | Yes — on the work order |
| Workmanship window | 0–12 months typical | 24 months |
| Mold recurrence | Often excluded | 90 days from clearance, same moisture source |
| Transferability | Rare | Once, with signed transfer form |
| Remedy if work fails | “We’ll come look” | Return and redo at no charge |
| Scope covered | Mitigation only | Mitigation + reconstruction done by Vault |
Why 24 months on workmanship, not 12
Twelve months doesn’t carry a Utah home through a full freeze-thaw cycle plus the next summer’s humidity swings. A reconstruction detail that fails in year two typically shows up with the next cold snap — not inside the first winter. Twenty-four months covers both complete seasonal rotations.
Why 90 days on mold, not 24 months
Mold warranty beyond 90 days starts covering losses from new moisture sources that the first job never touched — a fresh leak, a roof event, a condensation pattern — and that’s not a workmanship failure. Ninety days matches post-remediation clearance decay windows and keeps the coverage honest.
What voids coverage, and what doesn’t
The 24-month workmanship warranty covers Vault’s work. It does not cover:
- A new or unrelated water event in the covered area after we closed the job.
- Work performed by another contractor on the same system or room after our work.
- Damage from a known defect the homeowner declined to repair in our scope (we document declines in writing on the work order).
- Cosmetic wear (paint sheen variation, caulk hairline cracks, nail-pop) that is not a material or installation failure.
- Settlement cracks in drywall at corners and seams, which are part of normal structural movement in Utah homes.
Documentation that helps your warranty claim
You don’t need professional photos or a legal file — but these four things speed up a claim:
- Dated photos of the issue (phone shot is fine).
- Your original work order (we email a PDF after close-out; we also keep it on file).
- Any receipts for new work in the covered room since Vault left (lets us separate our work from theirs).
- A brief timeline (“first noticed on [date], water from [source] on [date]”).
Transferring the warranty to a new homeowner
Both warranties are transferable once, within their coverage windows, if the home is sold.
- The seller emails or calls the office and gives us the buyer’s name, the closing date, and the signed warranty-transfer form (we provide the template).
- We update our records and acknowledge the transfer in writing to both parties.
- The new owner inherits whatever time remains on either warranty — it does not reset.
- The warranty follows the property; if the buyer sells again, no further transfer is available.
Warranty questions
What if the same type of leak happens somewhere else in the house?
That’s a new loss, not a warranty claim. Call us; we’ll start a new job (and your deductible applies for insurance). The original warranty continues in the originally covered area.
Does the warranty cover the appliance or fixture that caused the water?
No — we restore damage caused by the water. The appliance or fixture is a plumbing/appliance issue outside our scope. We’ll recommend who to call.
What if I had another contractor touch the work after you?
Workmanship coverage ends on anything that other contractor touched (drywall patched, floor re-planked, cabinet re-fastened). Unaffected areas in the same room stay covered.
Does the warranty cover insurance deductibles on a repeat visit?
No deductible applies to a warranty return — we come back on our own tab. Deductibles only apply when a new insurance claim is filed for a new loss.
What if my job wasn’t covered by insurance in the first place?
The warranty is on the work, not on how it was paid. Cash jobs, Wisetack-financed jobs and insurance jobs all carry the same written warranty.
When the 90-day mold warranty starts
The mold warranty runs 90 days from post-remediation clearance, not from the day the crew packs up. Under the IICRC S520 standard, clearance is the check that remediation actually worked. It usually includes:
- A visual inspection showing no remaining visible growth or residue in the work area.
- Moisture readings showing affected materials are back to normal, dry levels.
- Air or surface sampling where the job called for it, compared against an outside or unaffected reference area.
Starting the clock at clearance means the 90 days begins only after the area has been verified clean and dry.
The warranty covers mold coming back from the same moisture source that was remediated. A new leak or a different moisture source is a new loss, so call us and we’ll treat it as a new job.
Protecting the repair after we leave
A restored room stays healthy when the moisture source stays under control. These habits help any home in Utah County:
- Keep indoor humidity moderate. Running bathroom fans during showers and the range hood while cooking keeps moisture from building up.
- Check under sinks and behind appliances every few months for drips, especially at supply lines and the dishwasher and fridge connections.
- Replace rubber washing-machine hoses with braided stainless lines.
- Before winter, disconnect garden hoses and protect exterior spigots. Freeze bursts are one of the most common causes of water damage in the area.
- Watch for warning signs: a musty smell, soft spots in flooring, bubbling paint or new stains. Call early, because small problems are cheaper to fix.
If you need to use your warranty
Call (385) 250-2825 or use the contact page. These things help us look into it quickly:
- Dated photos of the problem.
- Your work order or invoice from the original job.
- A note on when you first noticed it, and whether anyone else has worked in that area since.
