Key points
- We bill State Farm, USAA, Allstate, Farmers and Bear River Mutual directly.
- You pay your deductible plus anything the policy doesn’t cover.
- The insurer pays for covered work based on the documented scope.
- Our scope is written in Xactimate, the estimating software insurers use. General information, not insurance advice.
How it works
- Document. We photograph the damage and map the water with thermal imaging and moisture meters.
- Scope. We write the scope in Xactimate so your adjuster can review it line by line — see what is Xactimate.
- Work and log. Moisture readings are recorded every day of drying.
- Bill. We send the documentation and invoice to the insurer and bill them directly.
- You pay your deductible and any non-covered items.
What “non-covered items” means
Things your policy excludes or limits — for example, damage from a long-term leak, sewer backup without an endorsement, or upgrades beyond like-for-like repair. See sudden vs. gradual water damage and deductibles explained.
If you need help with your share
Financing is available through Wisetack: $500–$25,000 over 3–24 months, with a soft credit check that doesn’t affect your credit score, subject to approval. See financing.
Not with one of those insurers?
We still document the job the same way and give you a free written estimate; ask us how billing works for your carrier. See insurance claims. General information, not insurance advice.

Common questions
Do I have to use my insurer’s preferred contractor?
In general, you choose who works on your home. Ask your insurer if your policy says otherwise. General information, not insurance advice.
What if more damage is found after the work starts?
The scope is usually updated with photos and moisture readings and sent to the insurer as a supplement, so the adjuster can see why the job changed. General information, not insurance advice.
Why is my mortgage company on the insurance check?
Checks for damage to the structure often name the mortgage lender as well, because the home is their collateral. The lender may need to endorse the check before the money can be used. General information, not insurance advice.
