Insurance Claims — How Vault Works With Your Carrier

Insurance claims at Vault — at a glance

  • Direct billing: we scope in Xactimate and bill State Farm, USAA, Allstate, Farmers, and Bear River Mutual directly, plus most other national carriers.
  • Daily moisture logs: every reading we take goes on your work order and goes to your adjuster. No gaps, no missing paperwork.
  • No surprise bills: you pay your deductible plus anything the policy doesn’t cover. We work with your adjuster first, not around them.
  • Wisetack financing for the deductible or non-covered items — $500 to $25,000, soft credit check. Details
  • 24-month workmanship warranty covers the rebuild. Warranty details
  • Call (385) 250-2825 — we’ll walk you through the claim before you call your carrier.

What a Vault insurance claim looks like

  1. You call us first (or at least second). If a pipe just burst, call Vault at (385) 250-2825 before you call your insurance company. We document the damage the moment we arrive — that documentation becomes the backbone of your claim.
  2. We mitigate immediately. Your policy requires you to prevent further damage. Vault’s W-2 crew extracts standing water, sets drying equipment, and installs containment within hours of the call.
  3. We scope the loss in Xactimate. Xactimate is the pricing software your insurer uses. Our scope matches their format — no translation, no back-and-forth.
  4. We log every reading. Moisture meter readings on every affected material, every day the equipment is running. All on your work order.
  5. We bill the carrier directly. You don’t float the mitigation cost; the insurer pays us. You pay your deductible to Vault.
  6. Reconstruction. Same crew, same license, no second contractor. We rebuild drywall, flooring, cabinetry, trim and paint under the Xactimate reconstruction scope.

Carriers we bill directly

  • State Farm
  • USAA
  • Allstate
  • Farmers
  • Bear River Mutual

Beyond this list, we work with most national and regional carriers in Utah. If your carrier isn’t listed, call and we’ll confirm during the first scope visit.

What your policy typically covers

Standard Utah homeowner’s policies cover sudden and accidental water damage — a burst pipe, a failed water heater, an overflowed washing machine. Most policies cover the mitigation (extraction, drying, demo of unsalvageable materials) and the reconstruction (drywall, flooring, paint).

What your policy typically doesn’t cover

  • Gradual leaks — a slow drip over months is usually not a sudden loss.
  • Flood — groundwater, river, or lake flooding needs separate flood insurance (NFIP or private).
  • Sewer backup — unless you have the sewer-and-drain backup endorsement.
  • Mold — most Utah policies cap mold coverage at $5,000-$10,000, or exclude it. Some exclude mold entirely.
  • Deferred maintenance — damage from a problem the homeowner knew about but didn’t fix.

If your claim is denied

Call us. A denial is often not final — adjusters work from the information they have, and if Vault’s documentation shows something they didn’t see on the first pass, the claim can be re-reviewed.

Deductibles and out-of-pocket

Your deductible is yours to pay — insurance companies won’t let a contractor “eat” or “waive” it (that’s insurance fraud in most states). What we can do is finance it through Wisetack: $500 to $25,000 over 3 to 24 months, soft credit check. See financing.

Frequently asked questions

Will you work directly with my insurance?

Yes. Vault bills State Farm, USAA, Allstate, Farmers, and Bear River Mutual directly, and works with other carriers on request. We write the scope in Xactimate, which is the estimating software most insurers use.

Who pays my deductible?

Your deductible is your share of a covered claim and is usually paid to the restoration company, since the insurer subtracts it from what they pay. Some policies use a percentage of the dwelling coverage instead of a flat amount.

What's recoverable depreciation?

Many replacement cost policies pay actual cash value (ACV) first, then release the held-back depreciation after you show the repairs or replacements were completed. We provide the final invoices and proof so you can collect it.
