Water Damage Restoration in Oak Hills, Provo
The small plastic or copper line that feeds a refrigerator’s ice maker is easy to forget about. When it leaks behind the fridge or cabinets, the first sign is often hardwood boards starting to cup. Vault dried out a kitchen in Oak Hills in July 2026 after exactly that.

- Approximate location
- Near Oak Hills Drive and 900 E
- When
- July 2026
- What happened
- A refrigerator ice maker supply line leaked behind the kitchen cabinets, cupping the hardwood floor and leaving moisture under the cabinet bases.
- What Vault did
- Moisture mapping and structural drying.
Ice maker line leaks and cupped hardwood
Ice maker supply lines run behind the refrigerator and often through the cabinets. A slow drip there soaks into the subfloor and the underside of hardwood flooring. Wood absorbs moisture from below, swells, and the edges of the boards rise, which is called cupping.
- Watch for: boards with raised edges near the fridge, a soft or spongy spot in front of the cabinets, or water stains on the cabinet base.
- Moisture mapping comes first. Meters show how far the water traveled under the flooring and cabinets, so drying covers every wet area, not just the visible spot.
- Cupped hardwood can sometimes recover if it is dried properly and in time. Sanding or replacing boards too early, before the floor is dry, can make it worse.
- Prevention: replace plastic ice maker tubing with a braided stainless line, and leave slack so the line doesn’t kink when the fridge is moved.
If it happens in your Oak Hills home
- Stop the water at the fixture’s shut-off valve, or at the main if you can’t find the source.
- Stay safe. Keep away from water near outlets, cords or the electrical panel, and from any ceiling that’s sagging.
- Photograph everything before you move anything, for your insurance claim.
- Move belongings off wet floors, and leave the carpet and drywall in place so moisture readings can be taken first.
- Call (385) 250-2825. We log the time we answer and the time we arrive on your work order.

What our Oak Hills customers say
“We noticed a musty smell downstairs after a pipe had leaked behind the wall. Even though the visible water was gone, the drywall still felt damp. The team used moisture meters to check the area and set up drying equipment. They took time to explain why everything needed to dry before closing the wall again.”
